The soil

Our tremendous terroir and wines

Approximately 28 hectares of vines is divided into three sites.

Around the Château, 22 hectares are located on a south-facing hillside shale and sheltered from the north winds. Among our vines, Chenin represents the majority and is expressed alone and without blending through our Anjou White and of course the Coteaux du Layon. For our Anjou Reds and Anjou Villages, Cabernet Franc is grown on the hillsides. The very local and amazing Grolleau brings fruity roundness to our rosés and forms part of our Rouge Carmen blend where Gamay also surprises with its crispness and freshness.

Clos des Perrières and its 1.8 hectares, in the heart of the village of Savennières, which we like to call “our Garden”. On this sloping plot, the schist rock outcrops give the wine a lovely minerality.

4 hectares dedicated to Chaume, that glorious sweet wine with a fresh finish so typical of the Loire Valley. Our vines here are over 60 years old, and the depth of their roots helps to convey all the richness of this complex terroir.
